Signs Your Website Is Losing You Clients (And You Don't Even Know It)

Here's the uncomfortable truth about a bad website.

It doesn't announce itself.

Nobody calls you up to say "I visited your website and left immediately because it was confusing and slow." They just go somewhere else. Quietly. Without explanation.

So here are the signs to look for yourself.

1. You Can't Find Your Contact Button Without Looking For It

If it took you more than 3 seconds to locate your own contact button, your visitors aren't finding it either.

Your contact details should be impossible to miss. Not tucked in the footer. Not on a page three clicks deep. Impossible to miss.

2. Your Homepage Talks About You More Than Your Customer

"We were founded in 2008 with a vision to deliver excellence across blah blah blah."

Nobody cares.

Your potential client landed on your website with one question. Can you solve my problem?

If your homepage doesn't answer that within about 5 seconds, they're gone.

3. It Looks Broken On Mobile

Over 60% of web traffic is on mobile.

If your website looks weird, squished, or just generally broken on a phone, you're losing more than half your potential clients before they've read a word.

Go look at your website on your phone right now.

I'll wait.

4. It Takes More Than 3 Seconds To Load

Already covered this in another post but it bears repeating.

Slow websites lose visitors. Lose visitors, lose clients. Lose clients, lose money.

Check your PageSpeed score. Under 70. Fix it.

5. The Last Update Was More Than 2 Years Ago

Outdated services. Old photos. A team page with people who left in 2021.

An outdated website tells potential clients one of two things.

Either the business isn't doing well enough to maintain it.

Or nobody cares enough to keep it current.

Neither is a great first impression.

What To Do About It

Fix what you can fix today. Update the content. Check the mobile version. Find your contact button and make it more visible.

If the underlying problems are more fundamental, the structure, the speed, the design, that's what I'm here for.
